Candle Care
Candle Care Guide
Each scent study is developed for measured release and optimal fragrance performance. Following these care recommendations will help ensure a safe and enjoyable burn.
Before Each Burn
Trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) before lighting.
A properly trimmed wick promotes:
- A cleaner burn
- Reduced soot
- Improved fragrance performance
- Longer candle life
First Burn
Allow the candle to burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the vessel.
This usually requires approximately 2–4 hours.
The first burn helps establish an even wax memory and reduces tunnelling.
Burn Time
Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.
Candle Placement
Always place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from:
- Drafts
- Curtains
- Fabrics
- Flammable materials
- Children
- Pets
When to Stop Burning
Discontinue use when approximately 1/2 inch (12 mm) of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.
Burning below this level may cause the vessel to overheat.
Safety Reminders
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Do not move a candle while wax is liquid.
- Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris.
- Burn only within sight.
Reuse & Repurpose
Once your candle is finished, the vessel can be cleaned and repurposed for:
- Studio tools
- Pens and pencils
- Small objects
- Plant propagation
- Everyday storage
A Note From THE WAX FOUNDRY
Each scent study is hand-poured in small batches on the West Coast of Canada using refined fragrance materials, a custom wax blend, and natural fibre wicks.
Minor variations in appearance are a natural characteristic of handcrafted candles and do not affect performance.
Thank you for welcoming this study into your space.
